BNU Participated in International Day of the Seafarer Events

On June 25, 2026, the International Day of the Seafarer was celebrated in Batumi with large-scale events organized by the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, in which Batumi Navigation University (BNU) actively participated.

BNU students took part in the traditional ceremonial march held during the day, highlighting the significance of the International Day of the Seafarer through their involvement. In addition, they attended the evening closing official ceremony, which marked the formal conclusion of the celebratory program.

BNU also actively participated in a specially arranged space at Europe Square, dedicated to children’s entertainment and educational activities. University representatives distributed commemorative gifts to children and guests visiting the area.

Within the framework of the official events dedicated to the International Day of the Seafarer, special recognition was awarded to BNU representatives.

The Head of Administration – Chancellor, Lali Khvedelidze, was awarded the State Medal of Honor for her outstanding contribution to the development of the state of Georgia and her distinguished service.

The Rector of BNU, Master Mariner Captain Parmen Khvedelidze, was honored for his significant contribution to the development of the maritime sector, many years of professional experience, and high sense of responsibility. The same award was presented to Boris Kvikvinia, instructor at BNU’s International Maritime Training Center and Chief Engineer, for his long-standing professional activity and valuable contribution to maritime education and training.
