The Founder of the COARA Coalition Presenting Report
On April 18th, 2024, Professor Stefan Bergmans, the founder of the COARA coalition, presented a report titled "EUA Research & Innovation Agenda 2027, seizing the moment, driving the change" in the presence of Georgia's First Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Aleksandre Tsuladze, as well as rectors and vice-rectors from accredited higher educational institutions in Georgia.
Professor Bergmans, who heads research and innovation at the European University Association (EUA) and oversees doctoral programs, introduced his innovative approach to evaluating scientific research. He emphasized that accredited universities in Georgia would have the opportunity to submit compelling, essential, and highly qualified research projects and receive appropriate support.
Additionally, he highlighted the COARA coalition's collaboration with the European Commission and the European Parliament, enabling member organizations to contribute to shaping future EU policies and initiatives. Following the presentation, Professor Bergmans responded to questions from the audience.
The Association of European Universities, headquartered in Brussels, stands as a major organization uniting European universities and educational institutions. With approximately 850 members across 47 countries, it conducts research on various aspects of European higher education policy and practice, including quality assurance, internationalization, governance, financing, and trans-national institutional development projects.
