29th IMLA Conference

From September 25-28, 2024, the 29th International Conference of the International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA) took place in Istanbul, Turkey. George Gabedava, an Associate Professor of the BNTU, participated in the event.

During the conference, Professor Gabedava presented his research paper titled "Navigating Clear Waters: Understanding Language Challenges and Improving Maritime Safety through Linguistic Insight," which focuses on enhancing maritime safety by addressing language barriers.

Additionally, George Gabedava moderated a session titled "Maritime Education and Training," where key issues related to maritime education and training were discussed.

The conference saw the participation of 200 delegates from 22 countries. This year's event was hosted by the Maritime Faculty of Istanbul Technical University and Piri Reis University.

BNTU regularly participates in such international events, which supports the advancement of maritime education and strengthens global collaboration.
