Tamuna Mikeladze: "Don't be afraid of stereotypes, there is no difference between man and woman's abilities".

Tamuna Mikeladze is 17 year old,  a first-year student of the Makhinjauri Maritime Lyceum, she is learning  the profession of a deck sailor.

"Of course I realize that it is not easy for a woman to pursue such a difficult profession, however, there is so much interest, longing and desire that all this will make me fearful and, on the contrary, motivate me. ”

“It is hard to believe that a 17 year old girl can overcome this challenge, but I think I have overcome the first difficulty. Overcome by studying with 25 guys and being the only girl on the course. "

“I wanted to be a police officer in my childhood, but after hearing the stories of a sailor from my cousin, my wishes had changed radically. When I informed my family that I wanted to go to sea, my family members were surprised. They told me you couldn't. I have proved to everyone that this is possible, and I am still in the process of proving it right now. "

“There were also discriminatory approaches that this is a man's job and that a woman should not go to sea. I do not think so. I think there is no difference between the abilities of men and women and this classification is irrelevant. From the beginning I was used in making the “man's job,”  I often was helping my father and I never divorced job dealing with gender opportunities.  I can withstand storms, waves and a stressful environment. I'm a strong woman, so I can! "
