PUBLIC LECTURE AT BNTU

Public lecture on "Batumi Urban Transport Challenges" was held at Batumi Navigation Teaching University, where students and staff of higher education institutions listened to the report of the head of UNDP project "Green Cities" in Georgia. Lasha Nakashidze reviewed the approaches of transport planning and practical methods used during the development of Batumi Sustainable Urban Transport Action Plan.
Batumi local council approved the Urban Transport Action Plan prepared within the framework of the "Green City" project last year. The main directions of the transport plan were in the direction of public transport, parking, bicystice and electric mobiles.
Discussions focused on the 2018-2020 years implemented and planned events in the past and future events, such as the number of minibuses halving, the bus network optimization, adding electric buses, hourly parking system in the central part,Chavchavadze-Abuseridze-Aghmashenebeli streets arranging roadways for buses and optimization of bicycles.
The meeting continued in the discussion format. BNTU students and academic staff presented their opinions regarding Batumi transportation challenges, as well as the measures taken by the Action Plan.
