Public Lecture Held at BNU: 1,700 Years Since Christianity Became the State Religion

On October 8, 2026, Batumi Navigation University hosted a public lecture dedicated to the topic “1,700 Years Since Christianity Became the State Religion.”

The lecture was delivered by Otar Gogolishvili, Head of the Khariton Akhvlediani Museum, and Makvala Gogua, Researcher in the Museum’s History Department.

During the lecture, participants learned about the historical significance of the establishment of Christianity as the state religion, key events associated with this process, and the influence of Christianity on Georgia’s historical and cultural development.

The speakers also discussed the historical process of the spread of Christianity, its role in shaping Georgia’s cultural and educational environment, and the significance of Christian heritage throughout the country’s centuries-old history.

The event was held in the BNU Library. At the end of the lecture, participants had the opportunity to ask the speakers questions and receive additional information on the topics discussed.
