Foreign Education Department

The Department of Foreign Education at BNTU is a unit within the Faculty of Maritime Engineering, reporting directly to the Dean of the Faculty.

The department's responsibilities include providing and enhancing services for students in the faculty’s English language programs, including those from abroad.

In its operations, the department follows the laws of Georgian legislation, as well as the strategic, regulatory and methodological documents applicable at BNTU. It collaborates with other BNTU structural units within its scope of competence, ensuring compliance with BNTU's rules, management directives and the requirements set forth in this regulation.

The department's functions include:
  • Adaptation and support services for foreign students.
  • Advising and informing prospective students about Georgian legal requirements, BNTU rules and program specifics, assisting with education recognition and other relevant issues within the department’s scope, including application acceptance and processing.
  • Participation in organizing the student enrollment process and assisting with the signing of contracts with students.
  • Organizing the study and examination process, including preparing schedules for classes (both theoretical and practical) and exams (intermediate, final and additional) and managing their administration.
  • Monitoring the educational process, including tracking the hours spent by programme implementing academic/invited personnel each semester, ensuring adherence to the syllabus, providing consultations and conducting systematic control. This involves preparing and submitting relevant reports to the Dean.
  • Collecting and analyzing statistical data on student academic performance and preparing and submitting a summary report to the Dean.
  • Participating in the planning of teaching and service provision to create an adapted environment that meets the needs of students with special educational requirements and assisting with their adaptation and social integration.
  • Engaging in activities designed to facilitate the integration of students into the educational process.
  • Assisting students with creating their individual profiles in the student educational process management system, monitoring for necessary updates, and providing updated information to the relevant departments.
  • Managing, updating, and analyzing electronic portfolios for both students and academic/invited personnel involved in the programs.
  • Informing students about available university support services.
