Next Great IP Game Jam — for Game Developers

Dear Students!

We are pleased to share with you an exciting initiative organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Global Game Jam (GGJ).

Next Great IP Game Jam — a virtual event — will take place from October 9–27, 2025, and is open to young game developers aged 15–35. Participants will have the opportunity to create games with franchise potential, focusing on characters, branding and merchandising, while also learning how to protect and develop their creations through intellectual property (IP).

Through seminars and hands-on sessions, world experts will share their knowledge about copyrights, trademarks, patents, design and trade secrets — explaining how an idea can evolve into a sustainable global franchise.

The goal of this initiative is to spark interest in intellectual property among young people and to enhance their skills, enabling them to protect and scale their ideas from the earliest stages.

The best regional games will be announced in November 2025. Winners will gain mentorship from industry leaders and exclusive opportunities to showcase their projects and expand their professional networks.
