22nd Asia Maritime & Fisheries Universities Forum (AMFUF)

The 22nd International Forum of Asian Maritime and Fisheries Universities (AMFUF) made history as it convened for the first time in Georgia at the Batumi Navigation Teaching University (BNTU) from November 13-15, 2024.

Under the theme "Navigation of the Future: Sustainable Fisheries, Maritime Education and Training in the Age of Digital Ship Transformation," this prestigious forum united leading maritime educational and research institutions from across Asia. The opening ceremony featured keynote addresses from Maya Khajishvili, Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of Adjara, and Alexi Akhvlediani, Director of Georgia's Maritime Transport Agency. Distinguished delegates from maritime institutions in Korea, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and other Asian nations participated in the event.

AMFUF serves as a vital platform for fostering international academic cooperation, facilitating exchange programs, and promoting collaborative multidisciplinary research in maritime education and management. The forum focused on three key areas:

• Maritime Education and Training (MET) Instructor Development and Analysis of International Sailing Training Programs
• Sustainable Development and Green Technologies in the Marine Industry
• Intercultural Communication and Modern Technologies in Maritime Education

Throughout the forum, participants emphasized the critical importance of integrating maritime education with sustainable practices and technological innovation to meet the evolving demands of the modern maritime industry.
