Webinar “Bridging the Gap: From Seafarer to Shore Leadership”

On March 25, 2026, an international webinar titled “Bridging the Gap: From Seafarer to Shore Leadership” was held, organized by MLA College and hosted by The Nautical Institute. The webinar addressed an important topic in the maritime sector—career transition of seafarers from onboard service to shore-based leadership and managerial positions.

The webinar was attended by the academic staff responsible for delivering field-specific components at Batumi Navigation University, further demonstrating the active engagement of the University’s academic personnel in contemporary international professional development activities.

The webinar covered the following topics:

• current trends in seafarers’ career development;
• the importance of leadership and managerial skills in the maritime sector;
• the necessity of continuous professional development (CPD);
• practical recommendations for effectively utilizing sea-going experience when transitioning to shore-based positions.

The webinar was particularly valuable both for active seafarers and for professionals planning their career development and transition to new opportunities.
