Webinar „GNSS Disruption“

On 13 November 2025, the academic and invited staff of Batumi Navigation University participated in the “GNSS Disruption Webinar”.
The webinar was organized by The Nautical Institute and focused on the modern challenges related to disruptions in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS).

During the webinar, topics were discussed concerning situations when determining a ship’s position becomes impossible — for example, when the position is no longer displayed on ECDIS or when the screen shows coordinates that are not navigationally feasible. Participants received information about possible malfunctions of GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and BeiDou systems, the hazards posed by such disruptions, and the resulting risks to navigational safety.

The event once again highlighted that GNSS disruptions are becoming increasingly common and pose a serious threat to both navigational safety and the uninterrupted flow of global trade.
