Batumi Navigation University Announces the 2026 Internal Grant Competition for Targeted Scientific Research Projects.

Objective: To promote the development of BNU’s scientific potential, the creation of new knowledge, the achievement of results with scientific and practical value, and the integration of research outcomes into the educational process.

Priority Areas: The priority areas of the 2026 Internal Grant Competition for Targeted Scientific Research Projects (hereinafter – the Competition) are defined as follows: Maritime Transport Safety; Safe Navigation and Technical Operation of Ships; Logistics and Transport Operations Management.

Within the framework of the Competition, preference will be given to projects focused on:

  • Creating new knowledge;

  • Achieving results with scientific and practical value;

  • Integrating research outcomes into the educational process.

Budget: The total budget of the 2026 Internal Grant Competition for Targeted Scientific Research Projects is determined at GEL 20,000 (twenty thousand).

Project Life Cycle: The implementation period of the winning project shall be from 13 July 2026 to 13 July 2027.

Competition Timeline: The Competition shall be conducted according to the following schedule:

a) Announcement of the Competition – 17.06.2026;

b) Opening of the Application Submission Period – 18.06.2026;

c) Deadline for Submission of Applications – 30.06.2026;

d) Work of the Competition Commission – 01.07.2026 – 07.07.2026;

e) Announcement of Preliminary Results – 08.07.2026;

f) Appeal Period for the Competition Results – 09.07.2026 – 10.07.2026;

g) Announcement of Final Results – 13.07.2026.

 

List of Required Documents

The following documents shall be submitted for participation in the Competition:

  • Application addressed to the Chairperson of the Competition Commission;

  •  

  • Budget Estimate of the Competition Project/Paper/Event;

  • CVs of all participants involved in the Competition Project (in the format established by BNU);

  • In the case of participation by a student or master’s student – a certificate confirming student status, semester of study, and academic performance.

As a result of the Competition, 1 (one) project shall be funded.

The Principal Investigator (Project Leader) of the Competition Project may only be a person affiliated with BNU who holds a doctoral degree or an equivalent academic qualification.

The following may participate in the Competition Project:

  • Academic, invited, and administrative staff of BNU;

  • BNU students and master’s students;

  • Representatives of partner higher education institutions and research organizations;

  • Local and international experts.

Participation of at least two students or master’s students in the Competition Project is mandatory, while the number of external experts shall not exceed 20% of the total project team composition.

Applications shall be submitted in both electronic and hard-copy formats to the following email address: info@bnu.edu.ge and to the BNU Chancellery, in accordance with the forms established by BNU.
