Humans have a negative effect on the state of the oceans through their activities. Every year, a large amount of plastic waste is placed in the ocean, creating a plastic-floating islands and causing great damage to the biodiversity of the ocean.
Also noteworthy is the increase in the concentration of various chemicals in the oceans, which in some cases leads to an increase in the acidity of the oceans.
The purpose of this day is to raise public awareness.Exhibitions, discussions and cognitive tours are organized in different parts of the world to get acquainted with the problems of the ocean and its ecosystems.
