Heroic Case Of BNTU Students 25.04.2020

Giorgi Tushmalishvili is a graduate of the Batumi Navigation Teaching University. The 30-year-old Georgian seafarer is one of those whose names and surnames will be recorded in the heroic deed. On April 8, he, along with students of the Batumi Navigation Teaching University and other sailors, was able to pull the crew members out from ship on fire at the Mediterranean Sea.
The rescue operation was carried out on the ship "Belatrix". Georgian sailors, almost all members of the crew, were taken to their dry cargo ship flying under the Panamanian flag. There are six Georgian employed on the ship „ARIFE“. Among them are students of the Batumi Navigation Teaching University: Elguja Nigalidze, Archil Bolkvadze, Achiko Tsintsadze, Zebur Diasamidze, Mamuka Dolidze.
Among the survived sailors were citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Turkey and India. Students of Batumi Navigation Teaching University have rescued their foreign colleagues at the risk of their own lives, who are now continuing their activities as usual due to their own merits.
