SEARCH&RESCUE EXERCISES

BNTU training vessel "Elita" participated in Search&Rescue Exercises.
The exercise, which coordinated the operation of the search and rescue operation at sea, to determine how coordinated the relevant authorities were, was conducted at the Black Sea.
The exercise within which it was tested how the relevant authorities coordinate during the search and rescue operation at sea, the exercise was conducted in the Black Sea.
Prior to this, the 15th Black Sea Coast Countries Conference was held in Batumi,whereas the exchange of experiences between the countries of the Black Sea Basin and the strengthening of cooperation in the field of search and rescue in the Black Sea were discussed.
6 ships, 4 boats, 2 tugs and 1 helicopter were involved in the exercises.

The goals of the exercises are:
- Organizing search and rescue operations at sea;
- Assistance to emergency vessels;
- Containment and collection of spilled oil at sea;
- Protection of coastline from spilled oil
- Elaborate the agreed actions of Operation Management Staffs (Accident Response Centre – Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, Harbour Master, Ministries of Georgia, Agencies, Organizations, Maritime Ports and Terminals).
The exercises were coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre of the Department of Search and Rescue and Ship Traffic Monitoring at the Maritime Transport Agency.
