30th International Conference of IMLA

From 24 to 27 September 2025, the 30th International Conference of the International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA30) was held, bringing together maritime professionals, researchers and academics from around the world.

The conference was attended by Professor George Gabedava, Head of the International Relations Service at BNU, who presented a paper on “The Impact of Autonomous Vessels on Global Maritime Logistics Networks”, highlighting the challenges and opportunities that automation brings to the shipping industry.

Professor Gabedava also chaired the session “Maritime Management & Logistics.” During the session, researchers from Turkey, Ukraine and Croatia presented studies on topics such as the link between maritime ports and urban politics, cash flow management in shipping, comparative analysis of merchant fleets in Adriatic countries, the use of CMMS in teaching logistics processes and the economic impacts of nautical tourism.
