An Official Part of the Events Dedicated to the Day of Seafarers
On July 2, 2022, the staff and students of the Batumi Navigation Teaching University took part in events dedicated to the International Day of Seafarers.
The official part of the events dedicated to the Day of Seafarers was held in the territory of the Batumi International Container Terminal.
The seafarers were congratulated on the professional day, meritorious representatives of the maritime sector and students were awarded by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili, the Chairman of the Government of Adjara Tornike Rizhvadze, the head of the Maritime Transport Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Tamar Ioselian and City Batumi Mayor Archil Chikovani.
For his special contribution to the development of maritime transport, the mayor of Batumi awarded the professor of the Batumi Navigation Teaching University, Cheif Mechanic - Omar Lomidze.
Chancellor of the Batumi Navigation Teaching University Lali Khvedelidze presented certificates to 5 students of BNTU: Enrike Intskirveli, Eustate Gelashvili, Ioane Merabishvili, Irakli Chitanava, Ilia Nikabadze.
At the end of the official part of the event, a moment of silence was observed to honor the sailors who died in the line of duty and, according to tradition, the ceremony of lowering the crown into the sea was performed against the background of the ships' signals.
