On May 11–15, 2026, the instructors and academic staff of the BNU International Maritime Training Centre participated in the Training of Trainers (ToT) - "Assessment, Examination and Certification of Seafarers" (in accordance with IMO Model Course 3.12).

The training was conducted by MTCC-Asia (Maritime Technology Cooperation Centre for Asia), a regional centre based at Shanghai Maritime University, China. MTCC-Asia was established within the framework of the EU-funded Global MTCC Network (GMN) project and is managed with the support of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Within the framework of the training, the participants discussed modern approaches, international standards, and best practices for the assessment, examination and certification of seafarers, which are based on IMO requirements and the principles of the STCW Convention.

This professional development activity contributes to improving the quality of maritime education at BNU, developing the professional competencies of instructors and academic staff and further strengthening compliance with international maritime educational standards.
