The course covers the competences required by Regulation VI of STCW Convention and Section A-VI/1, Table A-VI/1-3 of the STCW Code.
On completion of the course in elementary first aid, trainee will be competent to take immediate action upon encountering an accident or medical emergency until the arrival of a person with medical first aid skills of the person in charge of medical care on board.
Entry standards
For entry to the course the candidate should present:
- Certificate of Competency or Certificate of Proficiency or educational diplomaor provisional certificate of study (for students);
- Passport or Seaman’s Book or Seafarer’s Identity Document;
- Seafarer’s Medical Certificate
In case of Refresh course additionally:
- Filled Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting Refresher Training Self Declaration Form
- Basic safety training certificate (issued during last 5 years)
- 12 months of approved sea-going service during last three years
