The program covers the competences requirements STCW 1978 as amended Section A-V/1-1, paragraph 3, Table A-V/1-1-3 of the STCW Code.
On successfully completion of the course, participant obtains the following:
- A greater awareness of the need of proper planning, use of checklists for various cargo handling operations;
- An enhanced awareness to apply safe procedures at all times when carrying out the various operations on board a chemical tanker;
- An acquisition of experience in identifying operational problems and solving them;
- An improvement in the ability to promote safety culture and protection of the marine environment; and
- An increased ability to assist and coordinate response measures during emergencies.
Entry standards
For entry to the course the candidate should present:
- Certificate of Competency or Certificate of Proficiency or educational diploma
- Passport or Seaman’s Book or Seafarer’s Identity Document;
- Certificate of at least three months of approved seagoing service on chemical tankers
- Seafarer’s Medical Certificate
