Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting

 

The program covers the competences of Chapter VI of STCW Convention and Section A-VI/1, Table A-VI/1-2 of STCW Code.

Upon completion of course, the trainee will be able to:

  • Minimize the risk of a fire occurring
  • Maintain a state of readiness to respond to emergency fire situations
  • Carry out initial actions on discovering a fire on board
  • Identify the different firefighting mediums and which is the best to use for different types of fires
  • Actively and positively contribute to a firefighting party/team.

Entry standards

For entry to the course the candidate should present:

  • Certificate of Competency or Certificate of Proficiency or educational diplomaor provisional certificate of study (for students);
  • Passport or Seaman’s Book or Seafarer’s Identity Document;
  • Seafarer’s Medical Certificate

In case of Refresh course additionally:

  • Filled Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting Refresher Training Self Declaration Form
  • Basic safety training certificate (issued during last 5 years)
  • 12 months of approved sea-going service during last three years

Course duration: Full course: 2 days; Refresh course: 1 day
