The course covers and meets the mandatory minimum standard of competence for seafarers for the competence: Maintain a safe navigational watch, in particular bridge resource management in column 2 as specified in function of navigation at the operational level in table A-II/I of the STCW Code. This course is theoretical and practical including simulator exercises, taking into account table A-II/1 and the relevant parts of section A-VIII/2 of the STCW Code.
The trainees who successfully complete the course will be able to demonstrate their competence to maintain a safe navigational watch at the operational level, in particular their knowledge of bridge resource management principles, including:
- allocation, assignment, and prioritization of resources:
- effective communication;
- assertiveness and leadership;
- obtaining and maintaining situational awareness;
- consideration of team experience
Entry standards
For entry to the course the candidate should present:
- Certificate of Competency or Certificate of Proficiency or educational diploma;
- Passport or Seaman’s Book or Seafarer’s Identity Document;
- Seafarer’s Medical Certificate
